A bounty of cash won at the Pacific Poker Shootout 2008
Richmond, BC, August 20, 2008 – With a total of 684 entries and a prize pool of $316,800, there was a bounty of cash to be won at BCLC's third annual Pacific Poker Shootout at Cascades Casino on August 14 -17, 2008. After three events in four days, three men walked away as this year's Pacific Poker Shootout champions.
Dean Jackson from Victoria reigned over the two-day main event. Jackson outlasted 143 other players during the No Limit Texas Hold'em Shootout Main Event on August 16 and 17, 2008. As the last man standing, Jackson won $40,500 from a prize pool of $144,000.
Jackson is no rookie to the sport of poker and has been playing for 15 years. His favourite types of games include Texas Hold'em and Omaha poker. "I've played in many other tournaments but this is the largest poker prize I've ever won," said Jackson. "I'm so happy and can't wait to go home and share this with the family. I want to buy my wife something nice and my son a large Lego set that we can build together!"
Other top rankers included David Chu Ming Ao from Vancouver who reaped in $20,000 from the sold out No Limit Bounty Hold'em Shootout on the first day and another $2920 after ranking tenth on the last day in the main event.
While it wasn't the event with the largest prize pool, the No Limit Bounty Hold'em Shootout was the most popular at the tournament. The sold out event with a wait list to play, guaranteed 300 players exciting tournament play and a prize pool of $96,000.
Also $20,000 richer is Douglas Merrier from Surrey who ranked first after defeating 239 other players at the No Limit Hold'em Shootout on August 15, 2008.

"We are extremely happy with the growing popularity of the Pacific Poker Shootout and look forward to offering more exciting poker tournaments.
