Bus driver on roller coaster ride after winning Lotto 6/49 jackpot
Richmond, BC, September 16, 2008 – A bus driver from Sechelt has been on an emotional roller coaster ride since learning he won Saturday's Lotto 6/49 jackpot.
Glen Bell, 52, matched six out of six numbers to win more than $4.3 million on the September 13, 2008 draw.
Today, as Bell travelled with his family to BCLC's office in Richmond to collect his prize, he learned that his father-in-law had passed away.
"It's been a very emotional day so far, especially for my wife Treva," said the father of three and grandfather of three. "One minute we are all jumping up and down with excitement, and the next minute we're all in tears. We believe everything happens for a reason, though, and take some solace in the fact this money will change a lot of lives for the better."
The winning ticket was purchased at the Trail Bay Lotto Centre in Sechelt.
Lotto 6/49 is the nationwide lottery game drawn on Wednesdays and Saturdays after 6 p.m. PST. Players can purchase tickets at any lottery retailer or at PlayNow on bclc.com.
