"Extra" big win for Victoria baker
Richmond, BC, October 31, 2008 – A Victoria baker who bought a $4 Mini Dip ticket is $500,000 richer!
Kathy Kelly matched all four numbers to win the Extra draw on Wednesday, October 22.
Kathy was in Vancouver when she purchased her winning ticket at the Grand Central Cigar on Robson Street.
Later, having returned to her home Victoria, Kathy checked her Mini Dip ticket, which is 1 play for the 6/49, 1 play for the BC/49 and 1 Extra.
As she watched the screen on the video terminal it began flashing "$500,000" and music started to play. After staring at it and not believing what she was seeing, she turned to the clerk and asked, "Is that what I've won?"
After the clerk confirmed her big win, Kathy was so shocked that she replied, "I might have to lie on the counter for a bit, because I think I might fall over."
"I kept wondering if it was real," said the Victoria baker and mother of two. "It didn't really sink in until I picked up my cheque that it was, in fact, real."
Kathy plans to retire, pay off her mortgage and enjoy her winnings.
