Hair-raising Lotto 6/49 win for Campbell River man
Richmond B.C., May 27, 2009 – He may not be taking home a record jackpot of $49 million but a 54-year-old Campbell River man isn't complaining.
Steve Hollingsworth matched 5/6 numbers plus the bonus on the record-setting 6/49 draw Wednesday, May 20.
While a group of Edmonton co-workers will share the $49 million jackpot, Steve's ticket is worth $292,297.50.
"I had a good feeling about my Quick Pick ticket as soon as I bought it," says Steve. "The numbers added up to unlucky 13, but when you subtract 1 and 3 you get 9, which happens to be my favorite number."
"I was so excited," says Steve recalling how he felt when he learned his ticket was a big winner. "I'm lucky I don't have any hair to pull out!"
Lucky indeed.
Steve purchased his winning ticket at the Express Convenience Store on South Dogwood St. in Campbell River.
Lotto 6/49 is the nationwide lottery game drawn on Wednesdays and Saturdays after 6 p.m. (PST). Players can purchase tickets at any lottery retailer or at PlayNow on bclc.com.
