Big Lotto 6/49 jackpot win for small town couple

Big Lotto 6/49 jackpot win for small town couple Richmond B.C., June 1, 2009 – A retired couple from the east coast of Vancouver Island has two big reasons to celebrate.

Ward and Terri Harrison of Courtenay will attend their daughter's wedding this weekend as millionaires, as the couple matched 6/6 numbers to win $2.15 million on the Lotto 6/49 draw on Saturday, May 30, 2009.

"She'll be expecting a big wedding present when she finds out about this," joked Ward, a former Chief Warrant Officer for the Canadian Armed Forces. "Hopefully, this money will help get them off to a good start."

The couple is also planning to pay off their mortgage and restore their classic 1941 Plymouth.

"I'm looking forward to cruising around the Comox Valley in my new, old car," said Ward.

The Harrison's winning ticket was purchased at the Driftwood Mall in Courtenay.

Lotto 6/49 is the nationwide lottery game drawn on Wednesdays and Saturdays after 6 p.m. (PST). Players can purchase tickets at any lottery retailer or at PlayNow.com.
